James Allen "Jim" Wiseman, 66, passed away on September 3, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas with his three children by his side. Jim was born April 22, 1951 in Nodena, Arkansas to Mary Magdalene (James) and George Wiseman. He was the fourth of eleven children. He grew up in various parts of Arkansas and Missouri. He often spoke of his youth spent near the banks of the Mississippi River and took many trips back there over the years to visit family. At the age of 17 he brought his Southern charm and good manners to West Texas. This began his lifelong devotion to The Lone Star State. Jim's Jeep proudly displayed a bumper sticker with the emblem of Texas and the words, "I wasn't born here, but I got here as fast as I could."

On October 1, 1971, Jim married Charlotte Ann Bairrington in O'Donnell, Texas. This marriage brought forth three children, Jay Jay, Donnie and Steve. Though the marriage ended, a strong friendship eventually remained, and he routinely told people that he picked the best woman to be the mother of his children. Jim married Margaret Sue Miller Norwood December 26, 1994 in Tahoka, TX. They were married until her death on December 19, 2007.

Jim made his living in farming and worked for several people over the years. His final 25 years of employment were with Crawford Brothers Farms, in Tahoka, Texas. He enjoyed the solitude of farm work and believed that many of life's problems could be sorted out while driving a tractor.

In January 2014, Jim retired and moved to Snyder, Texas. He spent his retirement helping build Wiseman Goats (a show goat business), spoiling his grandkids, and dancing several nights a week in Scurry, Nolan, and Taylor counties. He loved to have a good time and was happiest when bird hunting or fishing on his boat at Lake Allen Henry. He loved dogs, Westerns, good jokes and cookouts with his family. He took great pride in making his grandsons fans of Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and John Wayne.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father and two sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and two sons, Jay Jay Wiseman and husband, Brent Lynn of Plainview, Texas, Donnie Wiseman and husband Robert Cook of Dallas, Texas and Steve Wiseman and fiancee Kamie Smith of Snyder, as well as three grandsons, Caleb Wiseman Geyer, Shane Steven Wiseman, and Reese Lee Wiseman. Other survivors include five brothers and three sisters.
