Alice Drew Williford Foster, 78, left this world for her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. A memorial service will be held at Second Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Brooks Williford and Myrtle Doak Williford; brother, Robert Doak Williford; and son, John David Foster. She was born on August 5, 1939 in Denison, Texas, the youngest of three children. She married John Lyle Foster on December 25, 1957 at Perrin Air Force Base between Denison and Sherman. They were the proud parents of three children. After living in Denison, Texas, Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina, Tripoli, Libya, and Wiesbaden Germany, the family was stationed at Reese Air Force Base, Lubbock in August 1964. Drew received her Bachelor of Science Degree and Teaching certification from Texas Tech University in 1969. In 1973, she obtained a Master of Education Degree with Supervision and Mid Management Certification.

Drew was employed by the Department of Defense School in Myrtle Beach and in Denison Public Schools before returning to teach in the Lubbock Public Schools. She served as a classroom teacher, a demonstration teacher, a Language Arts Consultant, and an Elementary Principal for LISD. Upon her retirement from public education, she became the Director of Weekday Program for Second Baptist Church and Minister to Children and Families.

At the time of her passing, she was still active as a Deacon in the church, and had recently completed Stephen Ministry Training. She was a member of Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, Lubbock/South Plains Retired Teachers Association, and Texas Retired Teachers Association. She had been an active member of Bells Gloria until her health interfered with her ability to continue. She was most proud of her sister in Christ joining her in coordinating a viable and active Singles Ministry for older adults.

Drew is survived by her children Kevin Foster and wife Cheryl of Mansfield, Texas, Kelly Foster Rothgeb and husband Tim of Grapevine, Texas; grandchildren, John Roy Foster and wife Julie of Waco, Ashley Foster Oheim and husband Zachary of Austin, Foster Horak of Austin, Milam Horak of Dallas, Caitlan Foster of Ft. Worth, Faith Rothgeb and Olivia Rothgeb of Grapevine; brother, Harold Brooks Williford and wife Janette of Houston; sister-in-law, Ann Williford of Midlothian, Virginia; sister in Christ Gayle Settle; two great-grandchildren, John Todd Foster and Jordyn Foster of Waco; and several precious cousins and many friends. She also left behind her devoted Bichon Frise, Sophie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Second Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
