Amy Wanjura, 47, of Lubbock fell asleep in the Lord on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Lubbock. She was born on August 26, 1970 in Tucson, Arizona to Donald and Sue (Oats) Wanjura. She attended Christ The King Cathedral School until high school and graduated from Monterey High School in 1988. She went on to earn her Associates Degree from the Dallas Art Institute, and later worked as an advocate for environmental studies and issues in New York. Later she became a chef and loved being a part of the team at Stella's. She was proud to serve breakfast and lunch to the students of Harmony Science Academy, and was also employed as a pastry chef for The West Table.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Sophia and Amalia Velasquez; parents, Donald and Sue Wanjura; three brothers, Vic and wife Tricia, Eric and wife Christine, and John and wife Karen; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Ben, Hugh, Haochen, Haojun, Jacob, Gracie, Jack and Thomas. Amy was known for her creativity, fashion, sense of humor, and desire to make everyone feel loved.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Cathedral, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to Christ The King School Foundation or Hospice of Lubbock
