Lee William Burton, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 5, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1923 in Floyd County, Texas to Clyde Wilson and Beulah May (Orsburn) Burton. Lee graduated from Floydada High School and served in World War II aboard the USS Cod Submarine. He married the late Nina Theresa Myrick in 1944, she died in 1976. He married Margaret McKinney Rodgers in 1993.

He farmed in Floyd County many years before retirement. Lee met the challenges of farming creatively by making some of his equipment, by being his own mechanic, electrician, plumber, and welder. He was always willing to help a neighbor.

He was a member of Lubbock Lifepoint Baptist Church, American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, the Farm Bureau, the Lubbock Open Heart Club, and the Lubbock Woodworker's Club. Lee made hundreds of wooden toy cars for Toys for Tots.

Mr. Burton was preceded in death by his first wife, Nina; two daughters, Carolyn Theresa Burton and Phyllis Ann Burton; one son, Richard Lee Burton; and two sisters, Maurice Burton and Viola Burton Greene and husband Randy; and infant brother, Hugh Orsburn Burton, remembered.

He is survived by his wife Margaret; daughter, Sharon Pattillo and husband Don; grandson, Ron Pattillo; sister-in-law, Marjorie Myrick and several nieces and nephews.

Lee's family wishes to express sincere thanks and appreciation for the excellent care provided by Wilshire on 4th assisted Living and Lubbock Interim Hospice.
