Albert “Al” William Kraker, Jr. of Lubbock passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the age of 67. He was born August 2, 1946 in Coleman to Albert William Kraker, Sr. and Jane Jennings Kraker. He was raised in Abilene and graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1965. Al attended McMurry University in Abilene and graduated from Texas Tech University. He worked many years in hotel management and in interior design.
Al was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lubbock where in addition to other activities, he thoroughly enjoyed his participation in the church choir. Al loved children, gardening, music, and the arts. He was always willing to share his creative abilities with others.
Those left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Marilyn Ross and husband Van of San Angelo, Nancy Kennemer of Lubbock, and Alyce Bartley and husband Mickey of Goldthwaite; brother-in law, Gus Paulos of Ford City, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; as well as his special neighbors, the Juan Mendoza family, and his loyal and loving friend, Suzanne Aker.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Martha (Kraker) Paulos.
A memorial celebration of Al’s life will be held at the Bowman Chapel of the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 13 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Keith Wiseman officiating.
Memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Choir of Lubbock or to a charity of your choice.
