Alberto Balderas, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 72. To all that knew him he was Albert, but to his family and grandchildren he will always be remembered as “Papo.” Born May 14, 1951, in Donna, Texas, Albert favored being home where he enjoyed his hobbies such as computer technology, solar energy, and keeping up with his yard and garden.
Albert's career as a welder, in the fabrication industry, allowed him to showcase his skills and pursue his love for working with metal. Whether immersing himself in a new computer project or designing new equipment in his workshop, Albert's heart always remained with his wife of 52 years, Nelda, whom he loved deeply. Albert will be forever remembered for his quick wit, straightforwardness, and speaking his mind. Always joking and spreading laughter through his sense of humor his legacy lives on through the memories he created and the love he shared with all who knew him.
Albert is survived by his wife: Nelda; his children: Michele Robinson (Todd) of Spring, TX, Albert Jr Balderas (Kate) of Homer, AK, Salina Hargis (David) of California, MD, Chris Balderas (Anna) of Dallas, TX; 13 grandchildren; one brother: Mario Balderas (Olga) of Plainview, TX; three sisters: Yolanda Gonzalez (Noe) of Lawton, OK, Ninfa Ochoa of Lockney, TX, Blanca Rodriguez of Lubbock, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son: Joseph Balderas of Nome, AK (2016), parents: David and Lupe Balderas of Lubbock, TX; sister: Rosa Sabala of Corpus Christi, TX; brother: David Balderas Jr of Lockney, TX.
A celebration of Albert's life will be held in remembrance of his spirit and the impact he had on those around him. The funeral services and ceremonies, in honor of a life well-lived, will take place on March 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Venue on Broadway, Combest Funeral Home, located at 2202 Broadway., Lubbock, TX 79401.
In his final moments, Albert was embraced and surrounded by the love of his family. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his presence will forever be felt in the laughter, the stories, and the moments shared in his memory. Rest in peace Papo, knowing that your legacy will endure in the hearts of those who love you.
