Albert Hernandez, 54, life-long resident of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, December 30, 2021. Albert was born on November 7, 1967, in Lubbock, to Marcos Garcia Hernandez and Juanita Cruz Hernandez.
Albert attended Lubbock High School, graduating with the Senior Class of 1986. Following graduation, he began his career as a legal assistant in Lubbock spanning more than 30 years. Albert received his certification as a Family Law Legal Assistant in 1989 from Texas Tech University. For the last 29 years, he worked as a legal assistant to Vince Martinez, Attorney at Law. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory, include two sons, Matthew Hernandez and his fiance' Sarah of Lubbock, and Isaiah Hernandez of Lubbock; his mother, Juanita (Cruz) Hernandez of Lubbock; one brother, Abel Hernandez of Lubbock; one sister, Diana Zamora and her husband Greg of Lubbock. He was preceded in death by his father, Marcos Garcia Hernandez, his maternal grandparents, Florentino and Margarita Cruz, and his paternal grandparents.
Visitation for Albert will be from 3 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, January 6, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 PM. The family will receive friends prior to the Rosary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Albert at 2 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Monsignor David Cruz will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Albert's memory to the Monsignor David R. Cruz Endowment, c/o the Catholic Foundation of The South Plains, P.O. Box 64845, Lubbock, TX 79464.
