Alice Marie Harris

Alice Marie Harris, 90, of Idalou went home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2013. She was born to Lela and Elton Cook on June 26, 1923 in Dallas. She moved from Odessa to Idalou in 1990. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Idalou. Alice managed ladies apparel stores for 35 years until she retired in 1988.

She was preceded in death by one son, Pat Avara of Lubbock. She is survived by one son, James Avara of Idalou; one daughter, Virginia Huemoeller and husband Steve of Nixa, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Jimmie Avara of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for family only will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes with Rev. Vestal Blakely officiating.

In lieu of flowers or food, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Idalou.
