Andres “Andy” DeLeon of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at the age of 77. He was born May 17, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Andres Salinas and Margarita Reyna DeLeon. As a young man, the family moved to Corpus Christi where he graduated high school and went on to attend Texas Tech University. Andy graduated with his degree in Art and became a commissioned artist. His talent was immeasurable and was on display throughout Texas at various Little League Parks and Highways. Most notably in the Lubbock, you can find his work on the Texas Tech campus, Maggie Trejo Center where he created Pancho Claus and in the El Editor Newspaper where he designed the Tejas comics. Andy was a man of faith who regularly participated in biblical studies at his local church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Tony DeLeon of New Braunfels, David DeLeon of Lubbock, and Sarah DeLeon and fiancé Charles of Lubbock; siblings, Maria Ballard and husband Larry, Victoria DeLeon, and Joe DeLeon and wife Rachel; and three grandchildren.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Francisca Cecilia DeLeon Hernandez and San Juanita Valenciano.
Memorial services are scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with inurnment to follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed on this webpage.
