Anita Rodriguez

Anita M. Rodriguez, 86, of Petersburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 31, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Poth, Wilson County, Texas, on July 26, 1935, to the late Anacleto Ovalle and Paula (Mendez) Ovalle.

She met Felix G. Rodriguez, Jr., the love of her life, and they were married on August 30, 1952, in Mathis, Texas. Mr. Rodriguez preceded her in death on August 18, 2018.

Anita was a devoted housewife, spouse, mother and grandmother to her large and lovely family. She loved to work her crossword puzzles, sew, listen to Latino music, cook and care for her wonderful garden of roses. Anita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was a Cursillistas and member of the Guadalupanas. At church, she taught 1st communion classes for several years.

Those left to cherish Anita's memory include three sons, Johnny (Emma) Rodriguez of Plainview, David (Lisa) Rodriguez of Petersburg and Ruben (Donna) Rodriguez of Abernathy; two daughters, Sylvia Flores of Petersburg and Lolly (Johnny) Ramirez of Bow, Washington; one brother, Ines Ovalle of Petersburg; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Felix; one son, Joey Rodriguez; five brothers Cleto Ovalle, Jr., Frank Ovalle, Camilo Ovalle, Leon Ovalle and Paul Ovalle; three sisters, Rosita Huerta, Lola Gutierrez and Dora Morales.

Visitation for Anita will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 1:30 PM on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Nick Prieto, Michael Flores, Leandro Ramirez, Gilbert Huerta, Davian Arriaga and Nicholas Rendon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cipriana Gonzales, Carol Alvarez, Mary Ellen Perez, Elena Carlow and Melina Ramirez.
