Annie Lorea Steen

Annie Lorea Steen, formerly of Idalou, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the age of 100.   She was born December 4, 1913 at Stephenville, Texas to George Washington and Maude Opal (Culp) Butler.  She graduated from Lubbock High in 1930 and went on to attend Texas Tech where she met and married Enoch Richard Steen on February 10, 1935. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Texas Tech in 1948 and her Masters of Education in elementary education in 1960. She taught six years in high school in New Mexico and 21 years in elementary school in Idalou.   She retired in 1981.

Annie Lorea and Enoch were blessed with a son Richard Wayne Steen. They moved to a farm near Idalou in 1951. She was active in church and community activates especially the youth at church and 4-H, and other youth activities.  

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Wayne Steen of New Mexico.

Annie Lorea was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Idalou United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Idalou Cemetery.
