Anthony W. (Tony) Skeen, 55, of Austin, Texas, passed away July 9, 2014, following an 18-month battle with melanoma. He was born Feb. 16, 1959, in Clovis, NM, the son of Johnnie and Don Skeen. He was the youngest of three children and was raised in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Lubbock High school in 1977 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1981. He was a member of the Texas Tech University Civil Engineering Academy and a registered professional engineer. Tony found civil engineering to be an immensely satisfying and rewarding career. He was well-respected in the engineering community for his contributions and dedication to the profession. His 33 year career spanned the public and private sectors, the last 17 years with the Lower Colorado River Authority, where he was employed at the time of his passing. First and foremost Tony was a loving and devoted dad who did everything he could for his kids. He was also an avid runner, running numerous 10K and half marathons and completing the Austin Marathon six times. He is survived by his son, Anthony Ryan Skeen of College Station, TX; daughter, Emily Marie Skeen of Austin, TX; and their mother, Judy Bragg Skeen of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his parents of Roswell, NM; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Don Perkey of Wolfforth, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Laura Skeen of Lubbock; and a host of extended family. A memorial service, led by Jonathan Riley, will be held in Austin in late summer. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Trail Foundation, In Memory of Tony Skeen (http://www.thetrailfoundation.org/) or to a favorite charity.
