Antonio "Tony" Castillo, 92, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021. He was born on September 9, 1929 in Goliad, Texas to Salvador and Aurelia (Torres) Castillo. Tony was a hard worker throughout his life and was a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who dearly loved his family. He worked at the Cone Gin as a ginner for thirty years. Tony married Esperanza Ozuna on September 6, 1948 in Navasota, Texas and together they shared 60 years of marriage before her passing in 2008. He was a strong Christian man who shared his Christian faith and values with his family. Tony loved bingo, his big red truck, and gambling. He had many friends and was still driving his truck to bingo at age 92 as well as taking care of his yard and things around the house until his passing. Tony indeed had a full life and although he was poor in wealth, he was rich in life and love.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Toni (Alex) Castro, Ramiro (JoAnn) Castillo, Margaret (Raul) Perez, Rudy (Mary) Castillo and Sandra (David) Soliz; brothers, Marcos Castillo and Dino Castillo; sisters, Angie Castillo and Janie Castillo; 18 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Esperanza; daughters, Martha Velasquez and Suzy Castillo and his parents.
Visitation for Tony will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 1-8pm at the Venue on Broadway with the Holy Rosary being recited at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
