Arthur Ray Morris

Arthur “Art” Ray Morris of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the age of 54.  He was born March 5, 1960 in Canadian, Texas to Arthur “Burr” and Awanda (McGarvin) Morris.  Art received his Associates Degree from Texas Tech University and worked as a prison guard for the Dalhart Correctional Facility.  He was a member of the Parkinson’s Support Group and took great pride in winning the Battle of the Bands competition as a drummer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Valarie Morris and her mother, Christina Otero Presnall, who was Art’s wife from a previous marriage; sister, Cindy Ballard and husband Roy Lynn; aunt, Jeanell Morris of Granbury, Texas; and numerous extended family and friends. 

Art was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, John Arthur Ballard.
