Larry West was born October 20, 1936 in Arkansas and passed away peacefully in Lubbock, TX on February 3, 2022. After growing up in Arkansas, Larry began his working life as a mechanic in the US Air Force at English Airfield in Amarillo, TX. After his Honorable Discharge, he later went on to sell cars at Hudiberg-Jones Chevrolet before working as a machinist mechanic at the Asarco copper refinery from where he retired. He loved his "retirement job" at Jack Sisemore Traveland. Larry was an active member of the Church at Quail Creek before moving to Lubbock.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Rita West (Amarillo) and his brothers J.L. West and Howard West (Arkansas) along with his parents, Willie and Ruby West of Arkansas. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Sheila, also of Amarillo, mother of his son, and a second wife Molly, and her surviving daughter Cindy Marquardt of Amarillo. Larry is survived by his son Kevin and son in law Earl R. Saathoff as well as his step-son Darren Hudson and wife Lisa of Lubbock, his granddaughter Haley Hudson of Lubbock, and his grandson Nathan Hudson and wife Kaitlin and great grandson Liam of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by his special friend Gay Grimes and many friends at the Brookdale Grand Court Independent Living center in Lubbock, TX.
