Barbara Noxene Dixson

Barbara "Bobbie" Noxene Dixson, 84, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025. Born on November 15, 1940, in Idalou, Texas to John and Dalphia Dixson. Bobbie was raised by her beloved grandparents, Knox and Daisy McCray, after the passing of her mother when she was just seven years old. She held a great passion for reading and spent many years working as a librarian. 

Bobbie worked for several years for Traveler’s Insurance and eventually retired from Covenant Home Health. A longtime member of Greenlawn Church of Christ, Bobbie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was known for her sharp wit, clever sense of humor, and quick-witted remarks that could bring a laugh to those around her. 

She is survived by her sister, Janelle Isom; her niece, Pam and her husband Tim; her great-nieces, Tracie and her husband Aaron, and Tara and her husband Matthew, her great-great-nephew, Bowie, and several cousins. Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and a beloved uncle, Lloyd McCray. Bobbie’s family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, free from pain. 

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and nurses at Windmill Village, especially Jonathan, for his compassionate care in Bobbie’s final hours, as well as everyone at Accent Hospice Care for their support, with special appreciation for Miranda’s kindness and dedication.

Bobbie will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by those who knew and loved her. 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00p.m. in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Burial to immediately follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
