Barbara Ann Thompson, 92, passed away on May 2, 2022. Barbara was born to Alma and Cecil Lindsey on May 28, 1929, in Eldorado, Oklahoma. She married Dave Wright in November of 1947, in Morton, Texas. They eventually made their home in Levelland, Texas. They were involved in fostering children from Lubbock Children's Home and infants from the Smithlawn Church of Christ. They were married for 30 years before Dave preceded her in death.
Barbara married Elbert Bills in 1977 and was married 18 years before he preceded her in death. They enjoyed traveling to Colorado in their RV. She loved to help him pull cotton trailers to the gin, and always had a wonderful meal cooked for him when he got home from work.
Barbara loved being a mom. She considered it pure joy to be called momma and watch her family grow through the years.
She was a member of Green Lawn Church of Christ, until 5 years ago when she moved to the Brookdale Remington Park Assisted Living facility. Barbara loved the Lord with all her heart and passed that down to all her family.
Barbara is survived by her son, Tommy Wright and wife Ann from Amarillo, Texas; three daughters, Diane Heinsch and husband Richard from Lubbock, Susan Hill and husband Mark from Lubbock and Brenda Boles of Lubbock; 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, and 2 grandsons, Heath Wright and Eric Hill.
Visitation for Barbara will be from 2 PM to 7 PM on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, in the Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Homes, with family receiving friends from 5 PM to 7 PM. Graveside services will be at 10 AM on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wright, Richard Wright, Zach Norris, Greg Hodges, Lance Brinson and Rafe Richardson.
The family would like to thank Covenant Medical Center, Interim Home Health, Traditions Hospice, and everyone at her second home, Brookdale Remington Park Assisted Living.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children's Home, 4404 Idalou Road, Lubbock, TX 79403.
