Betty L. Collie

Betty L. Collie of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the age of 85. She was born April 2, 1928 in Brady, Texas to William and Laura (Greer) Ellis.  Betty attended Daniel Baker College and graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a B.A. in Education.  She married Reginald L. Collie in 1951, and they made their home in Abilene until his death in May, 1991.  She moved to Lubbock in 2000.  Betty was of the Unitarian faith.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Nathan L. Collie (Associate Professor of Biological Sciences, Texas Tech University) and wife Katharine of Lubbock and Kim E. Collie of China; one brother, James B. Ellis of San Francisco, CA; three grandchildren, Austen Collie, Hilary Collie, and Leslie Collie; and, one great-grandchild, Ashton Collie.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Frank Ellis of North Carolina.
