Betty Jo Ann “Jody” Brundrett, 78, of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 in Lubbock surrounded by her loving family.
Betty (“Jody”) was born on January 20, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Warner Morris Brundrett and Jo Ann Davis Brundrett and was raised in a military family. She lived in San Antonio and then Harrisville, Pennsylvania where she graduated High School. She moved to Austin for college, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. While at the University of Texas, she was named one of the “Ten” most beautiful women on campus. She worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Austin area and later worked at R. John’s/Art Carved Jewelry. She married Thomas “Tom” Meagher on September 25, 2015 in Alto, New Mexico, and they lived in Austin, TX, Ruidoso, NM, Rio Rancho, NM and moved to Lubbock, TX in 2021 to be closer to her son’s family. While in Ruidoso, she worked for Wells Fargo and other local companies. Jody enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, hiking, being in the mountains/outdoors and she loved reading. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, loving animals, and for her bright eyes and engaging smile. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and was recently attending Melonie Park Church in Lubbock.
Jody is survived by her husband, Thomas “Tom” Meagher of Lubbock, son, Kerry Gilbert and wife, Sherry, of Lubbock and their children, Kade and Koryn, step-son, Thomas S. Meagher and wife, Chenoa, of Pasco, WA and their children, Kahra Dodder and Erik Meagher, brother-in-law, Jim Shoop of Kerrville, and brother and sister-in-laws, Darby and Julie Meagher and Kevin and Sandi Meagher. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Linda Shoop, and brother, Warner D. Brundrett.
The family will receive friends and family on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 6 – 8 PM at her son’s residence, 6004 79th Street, in Lubbock with personal remarks at 7 PM. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of Combest Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Lubbock.
