Neil Blakely Wood, known as Blake, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 8, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on September 29, 1958, in Littlefield, Texas, he was the son of the late Neil Murrie Wood and Jackie (Farr) Wood.
A proud West Texas native, Blake grew up in Littlefield, where he graduated from Littlefield High School in 1977. He continued his education at Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Business degree and forming lifelong friendships as a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
Blake was a devoted husband, father and friend. He shared 30 wonderful years with his wife, Renee Fisher Wood, and took great pride in being a father to their daughters, Madison and Morgan. He was a classic “girl dad,” and found immense joy in spending time with his daughters and watching them grow.
He loved fly fishing, golfing, hunting and Texas Tech football. He also found joy in traveling and creating cherished memories with family and friends, particularly in Gunnison, Colorado, and Horseshoe Bay, Texas. With a steadfast work ethic, Blake served the oil and gas industry as a petroleum landman for over four decades. He and Renee were dedicated members of First Baptist Church in Lubbock for more than 30 years.
Blake is survived by his wife, Renee; daughters, Madison Wood McCrory (Michael) and Morgan Wood Caranfa (Carson), both of Dallas; his sister, Kim Green (Mark) of Lubbock; and many loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Time of Reflection and Visitation will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next to Combest Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church, 2201 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas.
