Bobby Assiter

Bobby Assiter of Lubbock passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the age of 82. He was born December 31, 1939 in Crosby, Texas to the late George Elwood and Ruth Enzer (Waller) Assiter.

Bobby graduated from Monterey High School and went on to attend Texas Tech University before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1958. He served proudly until his honorable discharge. Bobby married Janice Marie Marsh in June of 1961. He and his father founded Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in 1962 where he continued to serve families until his passing. Bobby served in ministry at Monterey Baptist Church for 10 years, Oakwood Baptist Church for 34 years, and most recently at Bacon Heights Baptist Church for the last seven years.

Through the years Bobby and Jan loved traveling and taking cruises. Bobby thoroughly enjoyed being the soccer coach for the kids and he was involved in the children's ministry at church. In his later years he became quite the chef. He loved cooking and grilling. He was a man with a big heart who loved to serve, he will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 60 years, Jan; children, Lezlie Langford and husband Chris of Arlington, TX, Amy Brown and husband George of The Colony, TX, and Brett Assiter of Lubbock, TX; sister, Kay Droke and husband Wes of El Paso, TX; grandchildren, Kevin Langford and wife Leah; PFC Cade Langford, George Brown III, Spencer Brown, Lindsay Assiter, Aaron Assiter, and Colby Assiter; and he was expecting great grandchildren in 2022.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Venue on Broadway. Celebration of life services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2022, at Bacon Heights Baptist Church with entombment to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
