Bobbye Wages

Bobbye Joan Wages, 79 of Abernathy/Lubbock passed away at Callander House on November 22, 2021. She was born August 1, 1942 in Post, Texas to Robert Richards and Mozelle Carter Richards. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1960, then attended Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

She married Tommie Hayden Wages on June 14, 1963 in Lubbock, Texas at First Baptist Church. Tommie and Bobbye were married for 44 years, living most of that time in Abernathy. Bobbye was a wife, mother, bookkeeper for the cotton farm, sister and friend. She enjoyed being in her garden so her yard was perfect. She also enjoyed going antiquing to fill her home with beautiful pieces from the past. She volunteered for the South Plains Fair for many years.

Bobbye was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Wages; father, Robert Richards; mother, Mozelle Carter Richards and step-mother who became her mother, Faye Richards.
Bobbye is survived by 2 children, Cody Wages and wife Shilla of Lubbock and Leigh Ann Wages of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Erin Wages of McKinney, Garrett Wages of Lubbock, Paden Kinney and wife Jessie of Lubbock and Whitney Kinney of Snyder; five great-grandchildren and her sister, Marilyn McElya of Dallas.

Graveside Services will be Monday, November 29, 2021 at 11:00 at the Abernathy Cemetery, under the direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
