Carol Jane Gilstrap

Carol Jane Gilstrap of Lubbock passed away at her home on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the age of 66.  She was born August 27, 1946 in Seymour to Jimmie and Irene (Cowan) Cunningham.  Carol married Vance Gilstrap on July 9, 1965.  She was a homemaker and member of Green Lawn Church of Christ.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 47 years, Vance; one son, Bruce and wife Elaine of Hattiesburg, MS; two daughters, Jenny Gilstrap of Denver, CO and Paula Taylor and husband Brandon of Lubbock; brother, W. D. Cunningham of Goree, TX; two sisters, Rheba Clark of Cincinnati, OH and Joyce Roberts of Des Moines, WA; and four grandchildren, Erin and Hannah Gilstrap and Dylan and Jade Taylor.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ann Self and Nell Adams.

Viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Green Lawn Church of Christ with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
