Carol Smith

Carol Elizabeth Mutch Smith, 82, departed her earthly home on February 18, 2025. She passed peacefully in her sleep and awoke to her heavenly home, welcomed by Jesus and her loved ones rejoicing at her arrival.

Born November 10, 1942, in Fall Rivers, Massachusetts, Carol was one of six children born to Ronald and Hilda Mutch. She was brave and adventurous traveling from Connecticut to California in a convertible right after high school graduation. She met and married David Smith in California and soon settled in Lubbock, Texas. They shared three children together. She became a single mom in 1970 and even through all the struggles of life, she loved her children and worked hard to give them a happy life. She remarried to Raymond Fulenwider in 1989 and relocated to Springlake, TX and lived there for 20 years.

Carol was called by the Lord to love and teach children. She owned an in-home daycare for over 40 years, and it filled her with such joy, love and purpose. She was amazing at showing the love of Jesus to each child while getting them ready for kindergarten.

Her most treasured role in life was that of Grandma. She lovingly nurtured all ten of her grandchildren while extending her care and guidance to many others, becoming a spiritual mother/grandmother to those around her. She was the life of the party when it came to her grandchildren, she loved to have fun and laugh with them, she was always up for a video game, movie, swimming pool, baking cookies or a big hug.

Carol loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind. She devoted herself to time in God’s word daily and strived to be the hands and feet of Jesus to everyone in her path. She loved celebrating life’s moments with others and supported the dreams of those around her. Always, reminding us that all things are possible with God.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Hilda Mutch, her brothers, Mike Mutch and Jim Mutch, her sister Posey Mutch, and her son, Todd Smith.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith cherished by her sister, Roni Mutch, her brother, Tim Mutch and his wife, Gail; her son John Smith and his wife, Pamela Renee; her daughter Leah Spelce and her husband, Steve.

She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Wesley Smith and his wife, Amber; Kendra Fletcher and her husband, Ryan; Ashley Colwell and her husband, Andrew; Haley Cole and her husband, Antoine, Brandon Bellows, Dustin Bellows, Caleb Benton, Jessica Benton, Brock Kleman and Bryant Kleman.

As well as her great grandchildren, Jordan, Bristol, Matthew, Rebecca, Alex, Kate, Norah, Judah, Olive, Lincoln, Jaxton, and new arrival on the way, Baby Cole.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 28th at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Cemetery.
