Carolyn Reynolds Cawthron of Lubbock passed away on July 5, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born June 2, 1933 in Lelia Lake, Texas to Keightly and Mamie (Brown) Reynolds. Carolyn grew up in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School. Upon moving to Lubbock, she worked for Rip Griffin Travel Center for more than 30 years before retiring. There she met Jimmy Cawthron whom she married in 1975. Carolyn achieved the rank of Bronze Life Master through the American Contract Bridge League in 2011.She was a member of the New Neighbors Club of Lubbock many years, where she served as the President in 2005-2006.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Warren Brumley of Ruskin, Florida, Neal Brumley and wife Jan of Lubbock, Gary Brumley and wife Ako of Beaverton, Oregon, and Mark Brumley and wife Jennifer of Asheville, North Carolina; three siblings, Lynn Reynolds and wife Jeanne, David Reynolds and wife Karen, and Gail Powell and husband Ben; sister-in-law Mona Reynolds; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy in September of 2023 and one brother, Don Reynolds.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with inurnment to follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. Services will be livestreamed on on this webpage. In honor of Carolyn, the family requests that guests wear pink.
