Cary Wayne Birdsell, 67, of Wilson, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. Cary was born on October 17, 1955, to his mother Frankie (Corkey) Birdsell and the late Arliss Wayne Birdsell, his father.
He attended Hobbs High School, in Hobbs, New Mexico, graduating with the senior class of 1973.
Cary met Beverly Edwards, the love of his life, and they were united in marriage on September 12, 1987, in Lubbock, and out of this union was born two wonderful daughters, Briana and Jessica.
Cary worked as an HVAC technician for many years and was with Anthony Mechanical for the last 5 years. He attended HVAC technician training school in Lubbock in 1988. He was a fishing enthusiast, but his passion revolved around cutting horses and the love of his grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the NCHA – National Cutting Horse Association and the AQHA – American Quarter Horse Association. Cary was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Beverly; two daughters, Briana Jones and her husband Wade of Lamesa, and Jessica Etheridge and her husband Colton of Clovis, New Mexico; his beloved mother, Granny Corkey of Hobbs, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Corbyn Jones, Teagan Jones, Arlee Etheridge, Lottie Etheridge, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Vickie Edwards.
Visitation for Cary will be held from 1 PM to 1:45 PM on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the sanctuary of Southcrest Baptist Church. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 3, 2023, at Southcrest Baptist Church. Pastor Danny Henderson will be the officiant. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the National Cutting Horse Association, 260 Bailey Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas 76107 or the American Quarter Horse Association, 1600 Quarter Horse Drive, Amarillo, Texas 79104.
