Cecil Bailey

Cecil Bailey, 50, a resident of Lubbock for the past 25 years, was gently lifted into heaven by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 2, 2024.  Cecil was born on April 6, 1973, in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.

Cecil came to Lubbock at the age of 25, where he has been a long-time resident of the Lubbock State Supported Living Center (LSSLC) and lived in the Tulip Home.

Cecil was employed in the workshop of the LSSLC for many years.  He loved Michael Jackson and emulated him in many ways, by dressing in Michael Jackson t-shirts, jackets and pants.  He could sing Michael Jackson songs, like the “Thriller,” and walk like him, as well as dancing to his music and others.  Cecil liked to play basketball and was known as an awesome player.  

Cecil had a bright and shining smile and was a one-of-a-kind person who made lots of friends.  He was well loved by the LSSLC staff and all his friends there.  Cecil was a sweet, gentle man who had his own opinion about things and never held back telling you what he thought.  He was a spirited man, the life of the party who loved to make people laugh.  

Gone, but never will be forgotten, Cecil’s life will be honored and cherished by his guardian, Diana Workman of Lubbock, as well as all his family at LSSLC, whom he loved very much.

On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, there will be a visitation for Cecil in the Chapel of the Lubbock State Supported Living Center, where you may pay your respects during that time.   Following visitation, Cecil will be taken to his place of eternal rest for a graveside service at 3 PM in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

Cecil’s guardian would like to express her thanks to everyone at LSSLC who has given their time to see that he was loved and well cared for.  To this end Cecil, you will be missed by all who has loved and cared for you, and you are now in God’s hands.
