Cheryl Kaye Kennedy

 Kaye Kennedy of Lubbock died Saturday, March 09, 2013 at the age of 60.  She was born May 29, 1952 in Lubbock to George and Clayene (Mitchell) Hickey.   Kaye started in the first grade at Lubbock Christian and graduated from Lubbock Christian High School in 1970.  After graduation, she pursued her nursing career following in her mother’s footsteps.  Kaye was a nurse at Covenant Medical Center for 24 years, retiring recently.

After retiring, she enjoyed spending more time with her granddaughters and at various church activities.  Kaye loved to travel and spend time with family.  She had a fun bubbly spirit and a smile that all who knew her welcomed.  Kaye was a lifelong member of Broadway Church of Christ and taught 25 years with Sonshine Pre School there.  She also was a member of the LCU Associates for 26 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sandi Kennedy and her fiancée, Jeremy Soliz and Teresa Wilkinson and husband Doug both of Lubbock; one son, Chris Kennedy of Lubbock; two brothers, Kenny Hickey and wife Petra and Harlan Hickey and wife Linda both of Lubbock; two granddaughters, MaKenzie Kennedy and Darci Wilkinson.   

Kaye was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Cheryl Kaye Kennedy Benefit Fund c/o Christopher Kennedy at any Wells Fargo Branch in Lubbock.

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 and Thursday, March 14, 2013.  Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013.  Celebration of life services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, at Broadway Church of Christ with Tim Talley officiating.  Interment will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
