Clifford Hilbers, 90, of Idalou went home to be with the Lord Saturday, March 1, 2014. He was born to George F. and Eva G. (Nesbitt) Hilbers on June 23, 1923 in Lynn County, Texas. He was a farmer until he retired and was a member of the Idalou Co-op gin board for 12 years. In 1970 he received the Outstanding Conservation Farmer award. He was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church. Clifford married Norma McWhorter on April 7, 1947 in Lubbock, Texas.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Norma; two sons, Gerry and wife Patsy Hilbers of Idalou, Don and wife Janet Hilbers of Lubbock; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five nieces and two nephews.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darwood Hilbers; and sister, Bernadine Herring.
Visitation will be 1:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes Idalou with rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held 9:00 a.m. - noon on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1:00 p.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
