Colline (Williams) Rhodes, 89, of Lubbock, passed away at home on April 20, 2023. She was born on January 8, 1934, in Carey, Texas to Horace and Glenna (Pharr) Williams. Colline graduated from Petersburg High School in 1951. As a freshman, she was on the varsity basketball team and voted Best All-Around Athlete.
She married Harrold D Rhodes on August 4, 1951, in Petersburg. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Plainview and Petersburg and enjoyed playing in a supper bridge club. Colline was a homemaker, keeping the cleanest house in West Texas. She was involved in the farm machinery business of Petersburg Implement, later Rhodes Farm and Machinery, where she earned the nickname “Moline” from the Minneapolis Moline tractors they sold. After raising her children, she volunteered with the VITA program to assist senior citizens with free tax preparation and traveled in their motor home.
She is survived by her three children, Rick Rhodes of Brownsville, TX; Tim Rhodes of Seattle, WA; daughter Lorna Brown of Medford, MA; two sisters, Sarah Anderson, and Debra Jones, both of Lubbock and one brother, Jimmy Williams of Ruidoso, NM; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Jo, Margaret, Faye, and brother Gene.
A time and place for celebrating her life is yet to be determined.
