Daniel R. Martinez, Sr., 89, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Mr. Martinez was born on September 1, 1933, in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas, to the late Candelario Martinez and Petra (Romero) Martinez.
Daniel met the love of his life, Janie Ambriz, and they were married in Cameron, Texas on April 25, 1954. Out of this blessed union, three sons and one daughter were born. Mrs. Martinez preceded him in death many years ago.
Daniel worked for Texas Industrial Service in Lubbock for approximately 30 years, before retiring in 1989 as a route supervisor. His number one loves were fishing and his grandchildren, as well as camping, outdoor activities and working in his yard. He was a long-time, faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include three sons, Daniel Martinez, Jr. and his wife Genive of Lubbock, Richard Martinez of Lubbock, and Arthur Martinez of Lubbock; one daughter, Cindy Nash of Lubbock; four brothers, Johnny Martinez, Robert Martinez, Mario Martinez and Candelario Martinez, Jr., all of Waxahachie, Texas; three sisters, Candida Alva of Lancaster, Texas and Simona Veracruz of Dallas and Victoria Martinez of Waxahachie, Texas; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behiind his two fur babies, Cookie and Sadie. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two sisters.
A time of reflection and visitation for Mr. Martinez will be held from 3 PM to 8 PM on Monday, September 26, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with Deacon Joe Martinez as the Celebrant. Final rites and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Martinez, III, Santana Martinez, Paul Alvarado, Joey Alvarado, Roy Ramos, Joe Ruiz, Herb Rankin and Gabriel Cavazos.
