With deep sorrow, yet with faith in the promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of Dr. Danny Terrell Carmichael, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Army veteran, and esteemed research farmer. He departed this life peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on April 14, 2025.

Danny was born to William Harris Carmichael and Mary Lois (White) Carmichael on December 5, 1945, growing up on a farm in Wellman, Texas he had a strong work ethic, a deep love for his family, and an unwavering belief in God and his Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived his life as a man of faith, embodying kindness, generosity, and devotion to those he loved.

He proudly served his country as a United States Army First Calvary veteran, answering the call of duty during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his bravery, honor, and commitment to protecting the freedom of others.

On August 17, 1968, Danny married the love of his life, Jaquita Faye Carmichael, with whom he built a life centered on love, faith, and family. Their union was a testament to enduring love and commitment, a partnership that brought joy, strength, and a beautiful family.

Danny Carmichael was a cherished father to his three sons, Michael Terrell Carmichael (Kelly), Jason Floyd Carmichael (Jackie), and John Britt Carmichael (Elizabeth). His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Austin (Megan) Faeth, Carter Faeth, Crosby Carmichael, Jakon Carmichael, Hunter Carmichael, Tessa Carmichael, Aidan Carmichael, Calum Carmichael, Kolton Carmichael, and Zoe Carmichael. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Damian Carmichael, Maisie Faeth, and Millie Faeth, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

Danny’s heart and home were always open, extending love and guidance to his adopted children, Bobby and Gina Stockman, Leslie and Becky Stockman and their children Emilee and Jaimee, Cody and Kandice and their children Kyirsten, Cayla, Peyton, Slyder and Stetsyn, and Bryce and Erin Stockman with their daughter Hadley and son Braxton. As "Dad" and "Papa," Danny was his family’s biggest fan. If there was a game or match, he was there cheering, supporting, and even giving the umpire a few lessons on the difference between a ball and a strike. His pancakes were legendary, and his kitchen was always a place of warmth, laughter, and good food, where no one ever left hungry.

After graduating from Texas Tech University with his Ph.D. in Agronomy, Danny Carmichael dedicated much of his career to agricultural research, making significant contributions to cotton farming and advancing agricultural practices. His hard work, intelligence, and passion for the land left a lasting mark on the industry and the community he served.

He will be remembered as a man of steadfast faith, wisdom, and love. His kindness, devotion, and the values he instilled in his family will continue to inspire all who knew him.
