David Lance Hallinan

July 22, 1960 — December 26, 2013

Lubbock

David Lance Hallinan, 53, the “Governor,” Daddio, and master chef, died in his hometown, Lubbock, on Dec. 26, 2013.

He was born on July 22, 1960 to the late Nicholas and Frances Hallinan. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1978 and excelled as a restaurateur and consultant. He owned and sold several successful businesses in Lubbock including the Apple Tree Pie Kitchen and Restaurant.

Quick-witted, his laughter and jokes never ceased to make others smile. He loved trivia and studying history, but the joy of his life was being a father and grandfather. His daughters' number one fan, he never missed a sporting event or school function. David's dedication to fatherhood is evident in the continued success of these women.

David generously volunteered his time and resources to the Lubbock community, and served as the Chaplain of the Elks Lodge, #1348.

David's legacy will be celebrated by his daughters, Kimberly, Brandi, and their half-sister, Brittany; granddaughters, Caden and Avery; beloved family, including sisters, Sherri, Cindy, Judy, Carol Anne, and Patty, all of Lubbock; and brother, Nicholas of San Antonio. He will be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Denise; aunt, Carol; and uncle, Johnny.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes with the family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 in Combest Family Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to David's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at his tribute page http://bit.ly/davidhallinantribute.
