David Wilson King, 94, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born December 19, 1929, in Wellington, Texas to the late Walter and Ruby (Tyson) King. After graduating High School, David was drafted into the United States Army where he served in the Korean War. Upon honorable discharge, he attended Texas Tech University before becoming a water well driller. David drilled the first deep water well in Kansas. He returned to Lubbock to work as an electrician, where he became a Journeyman Electrician working for the City of Lubbock as the Chief Electrician Inspector before retiring. For more than 50 years, he has been a member of the IBEW, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.
David was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris King, in 2013.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sharon Wood and husband Bob, and Lori Fleming and husband Jon, all of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Jennifer Whitehead, Heather Backus, Allie Houck, Davis Fleming, and Cameron Wood; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at Sunset Church of Christ. Memorial donations can be made to the Lubbock Meals on Wheels.
