David Kent May of Lubbock passed away after a fierce medical battle on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the age of 68. He and his twin brother, Doug, were born January 24, 1956, in Houston to William Douglas and Marjorie Elaine (McMahon) May. At a young age the family moved to Sweetwater where he graduated High School and went on to receive his associates degree in Technical Electronics from Western Texas College in Snyder. Upon moving to Lubbock, David worked for Xerox Corporation for 40 years. After being a bachelor for many years and longing for a family, he met the love of his life, Susan Lee Morris. They married on October 24, 1986, in Lubbock.
David was a giving, funny man who brought joy to everyone around him. He was a kind, caring listener and engaged in conversation. When Susan and he had children, David was a gentle father who spent time on boy scout adventures and watching his children in their various events. He had a natural gift of comfort to those he was around.
For the last 24 years, David has battled with various health problems and in 2018 underwent a liver transplant. He kept his spirits up and continued to thrive. He spent most of his days at home with his three dogs who kept him company.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 38 years, Susan, and their children, Abbi and David “Cameron” May, all of Lubbock; siblings, Doug Kirk May and wife Gloria, Jeff May and wife Bette, Wesley May and wife Dryden, Brad May and wife Mary, and Carol Bronson and husband Keith. David also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Peggy Morris and sisters-in-law, Becky Rickard, Robin Simpson and husband Jody, and Sarah Collins and husband Brent; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Martha Nazworth, Wanda Gonzales, and Janet Maxwell.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, September 6, 2024, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
