Dominga Barboza Castro

On Wednesday, February 26, just two days before her 88th birthday, Dominga Barboza Castro of Lubbock, Texas joined our heavenly father. 

She was born in Maxwell, Texas on February 29, 1937 to Brigido and Mercedes Barboza. She married Pedro Castro, Sr. on December 26, 1950. They remained married until his passing January 21, 2025. True love is what their marriage meant. She definitely couldn’t be without her honey. 

Dominga worked and retired from Grinnell after 30 years. After retirement, you could find her at Dunlap's or Dillard's. She frequently spoiled herself at the salon getting her hair and nails done. She loved cooking and took pride in making her tamales for everyone. She loved her Dallas Cowboys. Most of all she enjoyed dining out at local diners and spending time with her family. 

Dominga was survived by her sons Pete, Jr. and wife Inez, Ricky and wife Patsy and Jesse and wife Gloria; 7 grandchildren, Sandra Cain, Trina Garcia, Patrick Castro, Gabrielle Castro, Danielle Montoya, Celeste Reyna and Mikal Castro and 17 great grandchildren. She also had several nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 74 years, one son, 9 siblings- Jesusa Deleon, Arnolfo Barboza, Mariana Pastrano, Teodora Rodriguez, Genoveva Vasquez, Guadalupe Barboza, Janie Lopez, Cruz Barboza and Victor Barboza.

Honorary Pallbearers: Ricky Montoya III, Michael Reyna and Zane Castro

Visitation will be held from 11:00am -8:00pm on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Combest Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6:30pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Christ the King Cathedral. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
