Domingo Bela, Jr.

Domingo Bela, Jr., 76, of Petersburg, passed away on Monday evening, November 22, 2021. He was born in Temple, Bell County, Texas on October 12, 1945, to the late Domingo Bela, Sr. and Marcelina (Arredondo) Bela.

Domingo met Norma Linda Champion, the love of his life, and they were married on July 9, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He worked as a counselor for Lubbock MHMR helping troubled children before retiring in 2010. Domingo was very family oriented and loved to be around his grandchildren. He was a die-hard Steelers fan and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Linda; one son, Michael Flores and his wife Nicole of Celina, Texas; two daughters, Becky Florez of Petersburg, and Cynthia Ramirez, and her husband Frankie, of Lubbock; two brothers, Rudy Bela and his wife Sylvia of Nashville, Tennessee and Epifanio Bela of Lubbock; four sisters, Feliciana Arebalo and Lydia Delagarza of Lubbock, Linda Hernandez of Lansing, Michigan and Oralia Schubert and her husband Barney of Bellville, Illinois; eight grandchildren: Bethany Ramos, Alexandra Ramos, Mira Ramirez, Ainsley Flores, Braden Flores, Koben Flores, Kaidyn Flores and Ian Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Domingo will be from 3 PM to 8 PM on Monday, November 29, 2021, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 PM. Funeral Mass will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg. Burial will follow in the Petersburg Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.

Pallbearers will be Roy Champion, Rudy Champion, Daniel Bermea, Caleb Quintanilla, Irene Arebalo and Michelle Arebalo.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph Nava, Roy Villegas, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Jesse Gonzalez, Eddie Champion and Michael Flores.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Domingo's memory be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Research and Treatment Center, 4101 22nd Place, Lubbock, TX 79410.

PLEASE NOTE: In the concern of safety for COVID, the Bela family has requested masks be worn for the visitation and rosary on Monday. As well, Sacred Heart Catholic Church requires that masks be worn for the Funeral Mass on Tuesday.
