Domitila "Tila" Salas

Domitila “Tila” Salas of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the age of 94.  She was born May 12, 1919 in Waelder, Texas to Rosas and Refugia (Castillo) Perales.  Domitila was a homemaker and was married to Gabino Salas for 73 years. She was involved in the St. Patrick’s Guadalupana, Cursillista Altar Society, Sacred Heart Society, and also a choir member.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Maria Martinez (Joe) of Round Rock,  Gloria Martinez, Rosa Tijerina (Martin), and Angela Ortiz, all of Lubbock; two sons, Fernando (Susie) Salas of Idalou and Francisco Salas (Esther) of Lubbock; one brother Abran Perales of Houston; one sister, Manuela Cantu (Jose) of San Antonio; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Domitila was preceded in death by her husband Gabino Salas; daughters, Beatrice, Irene and Virginia; son, Enrique; and one grandson, Adrian Salas.

Rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday May 29 and 30, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with interment to follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.
