Edward Larry Hagood, 92, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. He was born July 12, 1929 in Okra, Texas to Walter Womack and Beuna (Maxwell) Hagood. Larry grew up in Tahoka where he graduated from high school in 1946. He attended Texas Tech University where he was a Saddle Tramp and a member of the Socii Fraternity. Larry served in the U.S. Air Force. He farmed in Lynn County for 61 years and served his community in many ways including being a board member of the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority and the Lynn County Hospital Board. Larry was a former chairperson of the Lynn County Republican Party. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, W. W. and Beuna Hagood; brother, Hosea Hagood and his second wife, Sue Hagood.
Those left to cherish his memory are the love of his life for 30 years, Nancy Edwards; son, Walt Hagood (Glinda); daughters, Liz Lewark (Dayton) and Suzanne Hagood; bonus children, Deborah DeBerry (Dale), Denise Barry (Doug), Amy McFadden (Elliott) and Karl Edwards (Stephanie); grandchildren, Anna McCutchen (Micah), Allison Cartwright (Chad), Drew DeBerry (Kara), Dawn Stump (Jeremy), Chris Barry, Marti Barry, Mikki Barry, Aaron Lewark, Mason Hunter, McKenna Edwards and Madden Edwards and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation for Larry will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Venue on Broadway from 1-6pm with the family receiving friends from 4-6pm. Celebration of Life service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lubbock at 2:30pm Monday, May 16, 2022. A family graveside service will be held prior to the service.
