Elizabeth “Beth” Harrington, 67 years old, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024. She was surrounded by her family, who grieves her absence but also rejoices in her ultimate healing and freedom from cancer. Thank you to everyone who helped care for her and love us through this journey.
Beth was born to Howard and Carolyn Harrington on May 23rd, 1957, in Snyder, TX. Beth graduated nursing school in 1979. She loved being a nurse but accepted the call to full-time ministry in 1991. She had the privilege of pastoring at the Lubbock Cooper United Methodist Church; First United Methodist Church of Crosbyton, TX; McAdoo Methodist Church; Hamlin Memorial Methodist Church of Farwell, TX; First United Methodist Church of Kermit, TX; First United Methodist Church of Wink, TX; First Methodist Church of Dumas, TX; First Methodist Church of Hobbs, NM; First United Methodist Church of Wickett, TX; and First United Methodist Church of Monahans, TX, where she still served in ministry part-time. She loved the people in her congregations and served them relentlessly. She is a testament of the Lord’s faithfulness, and someone who always kept her eyes on Jesus. In 2020, she retired from full-time ministry and became a Nurse Practitioner, proudly serving the citizens of Ector and Midland Counties.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Whitney and Mark McClendon (Lubbock), Lia Harrington (Lubbock); her grandchildren: Evelyn, Ellis, Emmeline and Ean McClendon (Lubbock); siblings Dell Harrington (Pflugerville), Jane Ann and Jeff Lambert (Conroe), Dixie Harrington (Lubbock), Cousins, many Nieces and Nephews, and Friends, near and far.
Beth was greeted in Heaven by her eldest brother, Joe Harrington, her sister-in-law Debbie Harrington, her parents Howard and Carolyn Harrington, and numerous friends who had become family to her.
She will be missed by many. She was a beloved Mother, grandmother “Beppy”, Sister, Pastor, Nurse, Aunt, Cousin, and all who knew her called her a Friend.
A celebration of Beth’s life will take place August 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. and it will be held at The Springs Fellowship Church in Lubbock, TX. Please wear bright colors because that is what she loves! There will be a visitation reception for the family following the service and the details will be provided at the service.
Thank you to all medical staff who provided care for her, Hospice of the South Plains and Combest Funeral Home for taking such sweet care of her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests child sponsorships through Food for the Hungry, Compassion International, donations to Samaritan’s Feet or please pray about adoption. There are so many children who need love…loving on people was the heart of our Mother.
