Emily Winton

August 18, 1977 — April 30, 2023

Emily Hartmann Winton was born to Richard and Barbara (Stevulak) Hartmann August 18, 1977 in Atlanta, GA. She left this earth April 30, 2023 to dance in the streets of Heaven.

Emily grew up in Houston, TX and then graduated from Texas Tech University where she met her soulmate Landon Winton. They were married August 19, 2000 and were blessed with two beautiful children Ella Faith and Jackson Max whom she loved fiercely. She was the ultimate wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Emily touched many lives in and out of the classroom with her compassion, positive attitude and zest for life. She taught pre-K at Kids Kingdom, Kindergarten at LISD and middle school at LCISD. She earned Teacher of the Year at both Preston Smith Elementary and Lubbock-Cooper Middle School.

Emily had a passion for dance and was mesmerizing in performances at TTU and with her involvement with Flatlands Dance. But her greatest passions were her faith and family. During Landon's coaching career, she was always a huge supporter of the players and their families. She delighted in watching Ella perform in theater and in cheering Jackson through many baseball and football games.

It would be wrong to say Emily lost her battle with cancer because she never stopped fighting and provided so much courage and strength to others. She was a warrior in body and spirit, faith and grace.

Thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Covenant, MDA, Baylor Medical Houston, and Hospice of Lubbock that provided care and support.

Emily is preceded into Heaven by her mother and grandparents. She is survived by Landon, Ella, Jackson, dad Rich, sister Becky (Josh) Stuart, in-laws Larry and Oressa Winton, sister-in-law Aleisha (Eric) Gomez, adoring nieces and nephews, many loving cousins, aunts and uncles, and a multitude of priceless friends.
