Encarnacion “Chon” Salazar of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the age of 67. He was born July 28, 1945 in Lorenzo to Jose and Elodia (Garza) Salazar, Sr. Chon worked as a farmer in the cotton industry until retiring in 2001. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, bingo, fishing and going to the casino. Chon was a member of San Lorenzo Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Jason Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Encarnacion Salazar, Jr. and Patric Salazar, both of Lubbock; three daughters, Elodia Acosta and husband Juan and Mary Lou Rangel and husband Randy, all of Lubbock, and Isabel Salazar of Lorenzo; five brothers, Jose Salazar, Jr. and wife Olga of Lorenzo, Israel and wife Maribel Salazar of Idaho, and Sam Salazar and wife Ida, Ismael Salazar, and Enemencio Salazar, all of Oregon; three sisters Maria Ester Rodriguez and Molly Hall and husband Roland, all of Oregon, and Enedina Luna and husband Rudy of Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Chon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Guadalupe; and two brothers, Alejandro and Ernesto Salazar.
Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Mass is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013 at San Lorenzo Catholic Church with interment to follow at Idalou Cemetery.
