Ermal Hoover

Ermal Hoover, a cherished matriarch of Lubbock, gracefully departed from this world on January 23, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. Born on January 16, 1924, in Dickens, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of Celesta (Lessie) and E.V. (Buster) Aurthor.

Throughout her life, Ermal exemplified steadfast dedication to her family, nurturing a warm and loving home while diligently working in the administration department of her local school district. A devoted member of the Quaker Avenue Church of Christ, her faith was a guiding light in her life, influencing all those fortunate enough to know her.

Ermal is lovingly remembered by her family, including her children T.L. Davis, A.D. Hoover, and Max Hoover, her sister Linna Garcia. Her legacy endures through her 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two precious great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous other relatives and friends whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Lessie Aurthor, her sisters Hanera Pritchet and Lona Dell Rogers, her devoted husband, Thurman Hoover, Sr., her son, Thurman Hoover, Jr., her son-in-law, Don Davis and her great-grandson, Josh Hoover, whose memories remain cherished in the hearts of her family.

A visitation in honor of Ermal will be held on Friday, January 31, from 4 PM to 6 PM at The Oak Crest Suite of Combest Family Funeral Homes in Lubbock. The family warmly invites all to join them for a celebration of her remarkable life during the funeral service at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 PM. In these moments of remembrance, may we find comfort in the love she shared and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts.
