Evelyn Eugene Madison of Lubbock passed away in the arms of her family on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the age of 80. She was born April 28, 1933 in Post, Texas to John and Ida Mae (Jenkins) Edwards. Evelyn graduated from New Home High School. She worked as a waitress and as a credit manager for Montgomery Ward. She married Roy H. Kent, Jr. on June 10, 1951. They had three sons together and started a water well service company in Coynosa, Texas where Evelyn managed the office. Evelyn later married Howard Lee Madison on September 2, 1967 in El Paso and two daughters and another son were added to the family. In 1973, the couple moved to Carlsbad. Evelyn loved the Lord with all her heart and played the organ and piano at church for many years. She taught her children to love and serve the Lord by her continued love and service. Evelyn also enjoyed ceramic painting and quilting; as well as working in the yard and gardening.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sissie Kinkade and Dase McCormick of Carlsbad; three sons, J. H. Kent and James Kent, both of Iraan, and Clint Kent of Carlsbad; two sisters, Charlene Keith of New Home and Deloris Edwards of Lubbock; one brother, John Edwards of New Home; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; infant sister, Anita Jeanette Edwards; and one son, Thomas L. Madison.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Terrace Cemetery in Post.
