Gabino Ibarra Salas of Lubbock passed away March 31, 2013 at the age of 98. He was born October 25, 1914 in Nuevo Leon Mexico to Vidal and Santos (Ibarra) Salas. Gabino married the love of his life Domitila Perales and they recently celebrated 73 years of marriage. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and was a Cursillista, a member of the Sacred Heart Society, and member of Woodsmen of America. Gabino loved to work in the yard, do carpentry work and he loved his dog Blackie.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Domitila; four daughters, Maria Martinez (Joe) of Round Rock, Gloria Martinez, Angela Ortiz and Rosa Tijerina (Martin), all of Lubbock; two sons, Fernando Salas (Susie) of Idalou and Francisco Salas (Esther) of Lubbock; one sister, Bernarda Mayorga of Lorenzo; 35 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Gabino was preceded in death by three daughters, Beatrice, Irene, and Virginia; one son, Enrique; and one grandson, Adrian Salas.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Pallbearers will be Rosendo Maldonado, Raymond Martinez, Martin Tijerina, Jr., Robert Salas, Rick Maldonado and Michael Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Hector Pina, Victor Bosquez, Gustavo Martinez and George Salas.
