Galen Neitsch

June 10, 1953 — May 17, 2022

Galen Dale Neitsch was born to Melrose and Patsy Neitsch on June 10, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas. After receiving his education, Galen went back to his roots where he farmed with his grandmother, Mable, in Estacado. Galen worked in feed lots and processed cattle which introduced him to the world of ranching. His knowledge and love of animals also helped during his time spent as a horse trainer.

Galen was an ordained minister, loved mentoring youth, was a licensed auctioneer, and was a member of the Texas Cowboy Rodeo Association and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Galen also won numerous BBQ competitions all over the state of Texas.

On December 7, 2002, Galen married the love of his life, Martha Medlock in Lubbock. Galen and Martha were married for 19 years.

Galen was preceded in death by his parents, Melrose and Patsy Neitsch and his step-daughter, Janell Aboushadid. He is survived by his wife, Martha of Fredericksburg; son, Skylar Neitsch and wife Erin of Lubbock; daughter, Taylor Neitsch of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Breiton, Hartley and Slayde Neitsch of Lubbock; two brothers, Roger Neitsch and wife Cynthia of Lubbock and Rex Neitsch and his wife Sherry of Levelland and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local FFA Chapter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel from 2-4pm. Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 10am at West Texas Church at the Barn located at 8322 County Road 6500 in Lubbock. Interment will follow at Idalou Cemetery under the personal care of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
