Garland Clinton Davis, 95, a devoted father and husband, departed this earth to his final resting place in Heaven on September 13, 2022. Garland will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janell, his children Mike, Janna, and Kristi, grandchildren Katie, Chase, and Pierce and numerous nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his son, Glenn Arthur Davis.
Garland was born and raised in San Saba, a small town in central Texas. He was called to service soon after graduating high school and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Upon returning home after the war, he attended Sul Ross University. Later, he worked for BS&B Oil Company in Odessa, where he met Janell Ewing. They were married in 1957 and celebrated their 65th anniversary in June of 2022. After briefly living in Sidney Nebraska and Pampa Texas, he and his growing family settled in Lubbock Texas where he would reside the rest of his life.
Garland worked most of his career in insurance with Prudential and Germania companies, possessing a true salesman's heart. Garland could speak the language of cowboys, farmers, doctors, lawyers, or any other walk of life when necessary. He never met a stranger and was loved and respected by all that crossed his path during his long life. His love for his family, his friends and coworkers was obvious by the way he spoke to and treated everyone.
Golf and woodworking were his favorite hobbies and he enjoyed both well into his 80s. His ability to organize, repair, and maintain everything was amazing and was easy to see by the immaculate way he kept his home, yard, vehicles, and belongings. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.
A memorial service will be held later; date, time, and location to be announced.
