Alan Gary Rodgers, 73, of Lubbock, TX passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Alan was born April 4, 1948 in Paragould, Arkansas to A.G. and Kaye (Kisner) Rodgers. He graduated from Lubbock Christian School in 1966 and attended Lubbock Christian College. Gary married Jett Burks in Lubbock on September 1, 1967. In April of 1970 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served as squad leader and was honorably discharged in February of 1976. Gary owned and operated Printer's Ink, and in 2020 he retired from the printing business.
Gary's love for sports was expressed while playing men's softball, coaching soccer and baseball, and rooting for the Texas Rangers. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Vandelia Church of Christ while growing up with his family, a member of South Plains Church of Christ for 40 years where he served as a deacon, and most recently a member of Sunset Church of Christ. His family meant the world to him- however his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jett Rodgers; daughter, Kristin Hagins and husband Jeff of Lubbock; daughter Jenifer Schilling and husband Jack of Wolfforth; grandchildren Preston Hagins and Noah Hagins of Lubbock, and Tate Schilling and Tinley Schilling of Wolfforth; brother Skip Rodgers of Denver City. Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will be available for visitation from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Sunset Church of Christ in the Parlor. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Sunset Church of Christ.
