George David "Dave" Harper

George David “Dave” Harper of Lubbock passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at the age of 80.  He was born March 19, 1934 in Shallowater to Ernest and Addie (Winningham) Harper.  He married Carlene Kunkel on December 20, 1958.  Dave joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. Dave worked as an Air Traffic Controller for 33 years. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Lubbock.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carlene; daughter, Julie Harper Willis and husband Johnnie of Lubbock; brother, Paul Dean Harper and wife Molly of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Jerrod Harper, Derek Wayne Beach, Christa Curry, Holly Alana Harper, Hunter Thomas Harper, and Courtney Belle Harper; one great-grandchild, Tayten Beach.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Alan Harper; and brother, Wallace Harper.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Combest Family Funeral Homes.  Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
