Gerald L.T. Wilson, M.D.

Dr. Gerald L. T. Wilson of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the age of 89.  He was born May 20, 1924 in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada to Leslie and Adelaide (Tweddell) Wilson.  After high school, Gerald graduated from Manitoba Teachers College before attending medical school.  In 1954 he began his teaching fellowship in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Manitoba.  He worked in family practice from 1955-1961 in Atikokan, Ontario, Canada, later specializing in obstetrics and gynecology.  In 1964 Dr. Wilson became a certified specialist of OB/GYN by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.  On February 14, 1979, he was inducted into the Order of St. John in Jerusalem by the Governor General of Canada.  He moved his medical practice to Lubbock in 1977, and retired in 2001.  Dr. Wilson dedicated his life to health and wellness of women.

Gerald married Joyce Audrey Farrell on January 15, 1975 in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada.  After moving to Lubbock, they became members of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.  They took great pride in the accomplishments of their daughters, Nina Rose Wilson-Keenan of Columbia, Missouri and Dorothy Leigh Wilson-Burford of Lubbock.  He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Patrick Keenan and Gage Burford; as well as one sister, Joan Hill of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Gerald was preceded in death by one brother, Cyril Wilson, and one sister, Dorothy Wood.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2807 42^nd Street, Lubbock, TX 79413.
